Who can request the certificate of free status?
The certificate of free status can be requested by anyone in any Italian municipality, provided that they know the personal data of the individual for whom they intend to obtain the document and provided that the aforementioned individual is resident and has been registered in an Italian municipality.
To request the certificate of free status you only have to fill out the form by entering the following information:
- name;
- surname;
- date of birth;
- municipality of residence;
- province of residence.
What does the certificate of free status contain?
The data contained in the certificate of free status are:

- Tax ID code;
- Date of birth;
- Municipality and province of residence
- Residential address.

The certificate of single status is the declaration in which the public official certifies the absence of marital ties (single status) of a specific natural person resident in an Italian municipality.

NB the certificate of civil status is valid for six months from the moment of its issue, after which time it will be necessary to request a new updated certificate of civil status.
